Cathy Haugland
Cathy (Haugland) has shared in music with her family and friends for many years. During her coursework at the University of Minnesota and since graduating with a degree in Music Therapy, she has had the pleasure of working with individuals of varying ages as well as abilities. Proficient in voice, piano, guitar, and trombone, she also has learned fundamentals in all other instrumental areas.
After beginning Music Together classes with her own children in 2001,
Cathy started teaching them in the fall of 2004 as a substitute. During
the 2004-2005 school year, she began a weekly music program in a
dual-immersion preschool for students with English- and Spanish-speaking
backgrounds. Joining with the classroom teachers, she was able to bring
experiences in creating music, of moving to the rhythms and in playing
along with each other in a musical setting. Since then, Cathy has had
the
pleasure of teaching many sessions of weekly Music Together classes and
attending numerous workshops and conferences as well as maintained her
music therapy board certification. In addition, Cathy began teaching
general music to grades kindergarten through fourth grade at a local
elementary school in the fall of 2008.
As a wife and mother, Cathy is full of enthusiasm for life, learning and fun. She looks forward to joining with you and your family in a completely rich, rewarding and enjoyable musical experience.
