Leah Drury

Leah Drury has been involved in vocal music throughout her life, singing with the Twin Cities' girls' choir Bel Canto Voices in high school and with the University of Minnesota Women's Chorus. Leah spent five years fronting the now-defunct local ska/reggae band the Jinkies, recorded a CD with the band and toured the region extensively. Some of her favorite memories are performing at First Avenue in Minneapolis, as well as clubs in Chicago and NYC. Leah has also performed with the Twin Cities Women's Choir, Ensemble Music’s a cappella group Common Chord, and is currently a member of the Prairie Fire Lady Choir.

Since becoming a mother, Leah has settled down a bit, but is still singing! Leah became a registered Music Together teacher and joined Ensemble Music in 2005, and she was awarded Certification Level 1 for excellence in teaching by Music Together in 2006. Leah also trained to teach the Music Together Babies curriculum in 2007. Leah strongly believes in the Music Together philosophy that all children are musical and can achieve basic music competence, given a rich musical environment. Musical engagement, not “talent,” is all parents need to nurture musical development in their child, and Leah is proud to be proof of this herself! Though not “degreed” in music, her love of singing and music has always been a prominent part of her life, fostered by her family. Leah strives to impart this aspect of the Music Together philosophy in the classroom by keeping activities very accessible, playful, and most of all, fun for families.

Leah’s full-time job is as a licensed Realtor with Lakes Sotheby's International Realty - so she is equally qualified to sing your home's praises too!  She truly enjoys working with Music Together families.

Leah's other hobbies include distance running, yoga, travel, and spending time with her husband and 2 children in her south Minneapolis neighborhood. She looks forward to singing, dancing, and having fun with your family in class!
